Dornier Do 335A-0 Pfeil

Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, April 1945

I was looking for a Do 335 kit in 1/48 for a long time but unfortunately they were all discontinued. That changed a few months ago, when Tamiya re-released their old (first released in 2000) kit, as a set, together with a Kübelwagen car. I bought the new kit as soon as it became available!

It may be a kit from 2000 but it has the “usual” Tamiya quality: The engineering of the kit and the fit of the parts is superb, while the provided details are excellent.

However, as usual, Tamiya provides the pilot seatbelts as a decal and I wanted something better, so I bought a PE set from Eduard. It is one of their old sets, where the instrument panel is not pre-painted and the instrument dials are printed on a plain paper. I used it anyway but frankly, it is only marginally better than the one that Tamiya provides.

The only dissapointment in the kit were the visible ejector pin marks on the bomb bay doors that I had to fill and file.
