After reading some articles about the P-40, I got the idea of building one myself. The P-40B kit from Airfix looked very interesting but it was unavailable at the time. However, I was able to find this kit from Hobby 2000, that is actually a re-boxing of the Hasegawa kit.
Building it was a pretty straightforward process, as it was done almost out-of-the-box. The only extra components I used was a set of PE seatbelts from Eduard, elastic rigging for the antenna wire from Uschi van der Rosten and home-made (0.2mm solder wire) hydraulic lines on the main undercarriage legs.
The fit was good, requiring only small amounts of putty around the wingroots. The paint scheme I chose was Bare-Metal-Finish and I used a couple of different shades of AK Real Metal (Aluminum and Dark Aluminum).
