The Avro Lancaster is another favourite plane of mine. However, there is currently no way I can fit a 1/48 model of it in my display cabinet (or anywhere else in the house for that mater). This is why I had to make a compromise and build it in 1/72.
The Airfix kit comes together nicely. The only issue that I had was that I lost a part used on the connection of one of the engines to the wing. I had to replace it using plasticard and milliput. Instead of the kit-provided gun muzzles I used bronze ones from Master Model.
Finally, in order to display the model better, I used a tractor from Airfix’ WWII bomber resupply set.
