Paint Stripping

A small guide on how to easily strip the paint from a model, in order to paint it again.

During my scale modelling adventures, there have been some times when I was not satisfied with my paint jobs. While some errors are easily corrected, there have been some times when it would be simpler to just strip all paint from the model and start over.

I have tried a couple of different methods with varying results, until last year when I found the perfect product for the job: The VMS Clean Slate RMVR 3.0 Ultra. The 200ml bottle costs around 10 euros but it can last a long time. The application is very easy.

  1. Take a wide cheap brush and apply a generous coat of the remover on the painted surfaces. Treat one surface at a time (wing, fuselage, etc).
  2. Using a paper towel, wipe the surface. After a few wipes the colour should be completely removed.
  3. Wipe the difficult to reach spots with q-tips.
  4. That’s it, there is no extra step. 🙂
