This is another kit in my bucket list. I ordered the Zeus Projects decal sheet 3 years ago and slowly planned this build. At first, I considered the F-16 kits of Kinetic. A couple of years ago, I started building an old Kinetic F-16A MLU kit together with my daughter (we still need to finish it). Last year I used their new “Gold line” F-16A to build a belgian anniversary plane. Frankly, even though their new tooling is better, I was not impressed by either of them. On the other hand, I have yet to be dissapointed by a Tamiya kit, so I chose them again for my greek F-16.
Tamiya has released a few versions of the F-16 but I chose this specific one because it provides both version of the jet intakes and engine nozzles and it is suitable for making any block od the F-16C. I did add the Grand Models set with the CFTs and the extended fin, needed for a greek F-16C Blk.52M.
For the cockpit, I used a the Eduard “Space” set (3D decals + Photoetch) with some additions parts from the Quinta 3D decal set for the Hasegawa kit.
The landing gear was also enhanced using a Photo-Etch set and wheels from Eduard. The speed-brakes were also from Eduard.
Finally, I added some IRIS-T missiles from Eduard.
Painting was done using MRP paints, the same ones I used for my Phantom builds. On top of that, I applied the MRP “Have Glass” varnish to give the distinct shine of the greek F-16s.
The decals were obtained from the “F-16C/D Hellenic Air Force Vipers – Part I” set by Zeus Projects.
